Engagement photos are so much fun and there are so many different places to take them at! Living in Northern California there are so many beautiful places and I love not only capturing my couples but capturing them in gorgeous locations. The Botanical Gardens in Berkeley is an amazing place! I actually had my engagement photos taken there 7 years ago! So it is forever a special place to me and now a special place for Karina and Ryan.
What I love about the UC Berkeley Botanical Gardens is that they have so many different gardens to wander through. We started in the Redwoods then moved on to the cactus garden and Japanese garden. After an outfit change, we headed back to the cactus garden, because it is by far my favorite area there and these turned out to be my favorites from the session! Ryan is from Hawaii, and so he had to represent where he was from and wore a Hawaiian shirt for his second outfit!
Karina and Ryan were “virtually” connected by mutual friends and met through Coffee Meets Bagels. They hit it off and began dating. During the pandemic, they learned to play tennis and try to play every weekend. They also enjoy doing their “separate” hobbies together. Ryan likes to build Gundam, and Karina likes painting, baking, and needle felting. What fun hobbies right! Together they also enjoy hiking, boba, and eating at new places.
Ryan Proposed in August of 2021 at the top of Vernal Falls with a beautiful ring in a ring box he hand made. Seriously so amazing and thoughtful.
Karina and Ryan are seriously so sweet. Most my couples let me know that they have never had their pictures professionally taken and that they are nervous. Karina and Ryan were shy at first so of course I had to act goofy and make them do some fun prompts to make them not be so nervous, and it totally worked! As we got to know each other more, they got more comfortable and became naturals behind the camera! I am so happy with how their photos turned out. Their love truly shows in person and definitely through the lens.
I can’t wait to capture their wedding day!
